Sr. Loretta Egan, 102, of Mt. Vernon. died on February 21, 2014 at the age of 102. She was born on March 13, 1911 in New York City to the late Michael and Anastasia Egan. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis Neuman Community in July 1943 at the motherhouse in Wappinger falls, NY. She took her first vows on February 2, 1946 and her final vows on the same date in 1949. Sr. Loretta began her ministry as an educator at St. Catherine School in Pelham from 1943 to 1944, and returning there for 10 more years in 1947. She also taught at St. Clare Academy in Hastings, Immaculate Conception School in Astoria, St. Elizabeth School, Mt. Loretto Staten Island and Immaculate Conception School in Tuckahoe. Sr. Loretta’s final years in ministry of education was as apart time volunteer at St. Eugene School in Yonkers. The family will receive friends at the WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, INC. EASTCHESTER Wednesday, February 26, 2014 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral mass of the requiem will be held on Thursday February27, 2014 10 AM at St. Eugene’s Church inYonkers. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Eastchester for 45 years and was a member of the church vestry, altar guild, and choir. Beloved brother of John Frail, Olive Reyes-Guerra, and the late Margaret and Anne. Dear aunt of Richard and Sandra Reyes-Guerra, and great aunt of Grant and Diana Reyes-Guerra. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He loved baseball, opera, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. George was the owner of Fordham Frankfurter Distributors in the Bronx. Michael C. Carideo, 88, of Derry, NH formerly of New Rochelle, NY, passed Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester. Mr. Carideo was born November 18, 1925 in the Bronx, NY and was a son of the late Julius and Anna (Spaziante) Carideo. He was raised in the Bronx and later in Mont Vernon, NY. He lived most of his life in New Rochelle, NY, prior to relocating to Derry, NH in 1991. Michael served during World War II in the U.S. Navy and worked for many years as a New York City bus driver with Liberty Bus Lines. After his retirement and move to NH, he enjoyed volunteering with the Westside Senior Center of Manchester, including their Meals on Wheels program. Michael will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Members of the family include his daughter and her husband, Marianne and Alan Gentile of Derry, his granddaughter, Jennifer Gentile, of Derry, grandson and his wife, Michael and Jill Gentile of Manchester, his great granddaughter, Emma Gentile, a sister and her husband, Irene and Clarence Tignonsini, of Yonkers, NY, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. Carideo was predeceased by his beloved wife of 37 years, Catherine (Palati) Carideo in 1987, by his son Julius Carideo in 2003 and by his brother Louis Carideo. Visitation will take place on Tuesday – March 18 from 5-8 pm at THE WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, INC., EASTCHESTER. A prayer service will be held Tuesday evening 7pm at the funeral home. Hugh J. Battersby, formerly of Tuckahoe, NY, passed away March 17, his 87th birthday. Enjoyed his Irish heritage and was a member of The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. He served as an usher at St. Patrick”s Cathedral for many years. Hugh was a graduate of Fordham Prep and Fordham University. As a U.S. Army Officer, he served in WWII and Korea. He lived in NYC and worked for Brooks Brothers. In recent years, he was cared for at The Long Island State Veterans Home, Stony Brook. Hugh was predeceased by his parents, Catherine and Hugh. He is survived by his brother Deacon Larry, his wife, Mary; nephew and godson, Brian, nieces Laura Grevi and Susan Rooney, their spouses, and their children. Armand J. Pomponio, A longtime resident of Eastchester died on March 23, 2014 at the age of 87. He was born in Bronxville on September 2, 1926 to the late Andrew and Maria (Marrone) Pomponio. Armand was the owner of Charlie”s Autobody in Scarsdale until his retirement. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1946. Armand is survived by his wife Ruth A. Joseph Billadello, 97, A resident of Eastchester died peacefully at home, with his family by his side on March 21, 2014. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 14, 1917 to the late Salvatore and Vita (Sardo) Bilardello. Joseph served his country in the United States Army during WWII, and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant Major. He worked in the labor relations unit in the Office of the Mayor of NYC until his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Peggy J. Billadello, his daughter Joan Eve Quinn (Tom) and son Dr. Joseph J. Billadello (Dr. Guadelupe Sanchez). Joseph is also survived by his granddaughter Dr. Laura Nicole Billadello (Dr. Michael DeVita).
