DOROTHY KETTNER, a life-long resident of Westchester County, born in Tuckahoe, NY to James and Stella (Sullivan) Gibbons on August 1, 1922. She was pre-deceased by her husband, George E. Kettner and her son, George M. Kettner, as well as her brothers: Jim, Bill (“Tot”) and Tom. She is survived by her three children: Hon. Susan Kettner, Deborah Kettner, Mark Kettner (Mary Beth), her daughter-in-law, Lucille Kettner and grandchildren, James and Kelly. She is also survived by her sister, Irene Smith of Elkhart, Indiana. A lifetime volunteer, while raising her family, Dorothy was an active volunteer: Scouting and Camp Fire Girls, as well as CCD instructor and Ladies Guild at Most Holy Trinity parish in Mamaroneck. She also volunteered for many years at the Children’s Room at the Mamaroneck Free Library. A competitive golfer until her late 80’s, Dorothy could be seen playing at Wykagyl Country Club, where she and her late husband maintained a long-time membership. An avid bridge player, Dorothy was also very involved in politics and played an active role in her daughter’s campaign for City judge, “manning” several shifts at every local supermarket as well as putting up lawn signs.“My mother was possessed with great strength and zest for life”, said her daughter Susan. “She brought courage and finally, acceptance to her final illness. Pamela Luedtke
Pamela Luedtke, Passed away on December 29, 2012 at the age of 62. She was born on June 16, 1950 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Thomas and Grace (Kelly) Beggins. Pamela was a well established and respected legal secretary for Westchester County for over twenty years. She is survived by her son Kirk Luedtke, sisters Nancy D. Coco (John), Clarisse Scarry and a brother Paul Beggins (Caroline). Pamela is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents she was predeceased by a son Klyle Luedtke. Gilda Honeysett
Gilda Honeysett, a lifelong resident of Tuckahoe and Eastchester, died on December 25, 2012. She was 91 years old. Gilda was born on October 2, 1921 in Tuckahoe to the late Americo and Zaira Rizzoli. She had two sisters, Sue and Fern, who pre-deceased her. A graduate of Tuckahoe High School, Gilda went on to work at Burroughs-Welcome in Tuckahoe during the war years. On December 11, 1949 she married Robert Honeysett of New Rochelle. They were married for 59 years, until his death on May 25, 2008. She had various careers including that of a beautician at the Patio Hair Salon in Tuckahoe (and later Eastchester) and as co-owner of The Fashion Den, a ladies’ clothing store in Tuckahoe. Gilda and Robert were active members of the Elks and Emblem Clubs in Scarsdale. They spent their retirement years traveling through Europe, cruising the Caribbean and enjoying their grandchildren. Gilda is survived by her sons, Thomas, a New Rochelle resident; and Robert of Fort Worth, Texas; and her five grandchildren, Alexandra, Christina, Robert, Joseph and Emily. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Westchester Funeral Home, 190 Main Street, Eastchester, NY from 10a-12p, followed by inurnment at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale. Gerard Mignone
Gerard Mignone entered eternal rest on January 3, 2013 at the age of 73. Gerard was born on April 17, 1939 and was the beloved son to the late Gerard and Assunta Rescigno Mignone. Gerard was born and raised in the Town of Eastchester. He graduated from Eastchester High School in 1957. Gerard enlisted in the US Army in 1958 where he was stationed in Korea until his honorable discharge in 1961. He joined the Tuckahoe Police Department in 1966. In 1971 he received an Associated Degree in Applied Science from Westchester Community College. In 1972 Gerard was promoted to Detective/Youth Officer, in 1985 he was promoted to Detective Sergeant, in 1989 he was promoted to Detective Lieutenant and in 1993 he was promoted to the rank of Chief where he served until his retirement in 2003. He was named Westchester County Detective of the Year in 1991 for his intelligent investigative skills and named Police Officer of the Year in Tuckahoe in 1989. Gerard was the Past President of both the New York Chiefs of Police Association and also the Westchester County Detective’s Association. He has left his mark on much of the outstanding work and accomplishments of these organizations and has provided the impetus for many of their endeavors. Gerard is survived by his loving wife Margaret of 49 years, his sons Gerard, Kenneth, Anthony, and Michael. His daughters in law Kim, Emily, and Tina. He will be sorely missed by his grandchildren Katelyn, Anthony, Nicolas, Michael, Amanda, Olivia, Alexa, Sofia and Joseph. He is survived by his brother’s Rudolph, Peter, Lawrence and his sister Joanne Mignone Rosamond. He is predeceased by his sister Concetta Mignone Vigliotti and his brothers Francis and Edward. Frank Cocozza
Frank P. Cocozza passed on Jan. 5, 2013 at Calvary Hospital. He was born July 28, 1923 to Gaetano and Nilla Cocozza. He had a brother Guy Cocozza. Frank was educated in Yonkers at St. Denis School and Charles E. Gorton High School. He then attended Manhattan College and New York University School of Law. After serving as counsel to Title Guarantee Insurance Company, he opened his law office in Yonkers. He practiced law inYonkers for over 55 years. He was a member of The Yonkers Lawyers Association. the Westchester County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. He loved to travel but his favorite destinations were to his homes in Watch Hill, Rhode Island and Jupiter, Florida. He used to love walking on the beaches. He loved going out to dinner with friends and family. He was often referred to as the “Duncan Heinz” of Westchester because nobody knew more restaurants than he did. He loved movies and movie trivia. He is survived by his wife, Emma, his daughter Susan, his son Paul, his grandson Mark and his daughter in law Jennie. He joins his parents, brother and grandson Paul in heaven. Anna Margaret Varian, 87, of Eastchester, passed away on January 7, 2013. She was born on July 12, 1925 to William and Florence (Newcomb) Cody in the Bronx, NY. Anna worked as a Operator for ATandT in NYC and in White Plains. Anna is survived by her loving son Walter Varian and her cousin Katherine Gorman, and beloved nieces and nephews. Carmela Mezzoni, A lifelong resident of Tuckahoe passed away peacefully on January 11, 2013 at the age of 96. She was born on March 8, 1916 to the late Fred and Josephine (Femina) Silano. She is survived by her children, Marie Castellano (Frank), Arnold M. Mezzoni (Linda), and Dolores DeCintio (David). She is also survived by ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Wolfgang Spitzer
Wolfgang Spitzer, of Bronxville, passed away on January 14, 2013 at the age of 90. He was born on May 11, 1922 in Bonn, Germany. He attended Oberlin College and then went to Harvard on the GI bill after serving for the United States Army Intelligence from 1942-1945. Wolfgang worked as a professor of French Literature at Sarah Lawrence College for 37 years. He married his beloved wife Cecily in 1958. Wolfgang and Cecily lived in Bronxville. Wolfgang is survived by his loving wife Cecily, his daughters Jennie Schaeffer and Numi (Glenn) Mitchell, and his grandsons Jeremy Sherman and Eli Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Suzanne Marie Spitzer. He was known for his love of literature and the Arts and was remembered as an inspired teacher by his students. ADOLF WALTER SIMONIDES Adolf W. Simonides entered into the joy of heaven when he passed away at the Somers Manor Nursing Home in Somers, NY on January 6, 2013. Adolf is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Adelaide H. (née Miller) Simonides. Adolf is also survived by his five children; Carol (William) Seamon, Kurt (Leslie) Simonides, Carl (Andrea) Simonides, Kenneth (Diane) Simonides, and Alan (Kelli) Simonides. Adolf was the proud grandfather of eleven grandchildren; Meredith and Emily Seamon, Matthew, Alexander, and Jonathan, Peter and Philip, Brianna, Alan John, Kaitlin, and Lauren Simonides. Adolf is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Adolf was born on July 3, 1921 in New Britain, CT to his parents John and Susanna Simonides. Adolf and his ten brothers and sisters were raised in a strong Lutheran home, based on the love of their Savior, Jesus Christ. Adolf served his country in WWII as part of the Army Medic Corps in the Philippines. After returning home he studied under the GI Bill. He earned his degree in accounting from Hillyer College in 1952. He worked at several financial institutions with his final position being held at United Church Board for World Ministries in New York City. Adolf loved life and enjoyed reading and exploring any part of God’s creation. He treasured time spent with family and friends. Most of all, Adolf loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was always eager to share the Good News proclaimed in the Gospel. As a result, we are certain that Adolf heard his Lord say, “well done, thou good and faithful servant!” as he saw Jesus in all his glory on a very special Epiphany Day, January 6, 2013. Agnes Ceglio, 93, of New Rochelle, passed away on January 16, 2013. She was born on October 6, 1919 to Michael and Grace (Micciche) Sciabbarrasi in Cannigatti, Sicily, Italy. On April 28, 1940 she married her loving spouse Anthony, who died in 1997. Agnes and Anthony lived in Eastchester, New York. Agnes is survived by her two sons Anthony (Carolyn), Michael (Maureen) and daughter-in-law Peggy, as well as 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
