August Lanzetta, 67, former resident of Eastchester, died on December 7, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy Lanzetta. Loving father of Suzanne (Michael) Sullivan and Christopher (Rosemarie) Lanzetta. Cherished grandfather of Meghan, William and Kyra Sullivan, Olivia and Gino DiRico, Guiliana and Francesca Lanzetta. Son of Gloria Lanzetta and the late Daniel Lanzetta. Beloved brother of Daniel (Janice) Lanzetta. Augie grew up in Mt. Vernon and attended Blessed Sacrament High School and Iona College. Early in his life he taught in catholic schools. He then began a long career in sales, and retired in January of 2015 as Vice President of Sales for Inline Plastics where he worked for 20 years. He was very active as a volunteer in the Eastchester Community. He loved the NY Giants, Italian food, to travel, to talk and be with people, most of all, his family and friends. He was also a fun and active grandfather to his grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, INC. EASTCHESTER Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9PM. Linda Maria Backstrand Sargent passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 at Calvary Hospital. She was born May 10, 1950 in New York City to Aino and Elis Backstrand. Linda was a graduate of PS #15 in Crestwood, Walt Whitman and Roosevelt High School and Attended Mills College and Marymount College. She was the personnel manager and assistant secretary at Magnetic Analysis Corporation in Elmsford, NY. Linda enjoyed gardening, baking, crafts and spending time with her family. She is survived by her mother, Aino Backstrand, sister Kathryn Sandvik (Carl) in PA., niece Elisa Truscott (Brian) in Texas, nephew Karl Erik (Jasmine) Sandvik in North Dakota and a grand niece Aila Kathryn Truscott in Texas. She was predeceased by her beloved grandmother Maria Nisumaa and her father Elis Backstrand and many relatives and friends in Finland, Sweden and Denmark along with USA. Ronald Patrick Sullivan, 73, of Yonkers, NY, passed away after a long battle with illnesses on January 21, 2016. Ronald was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 23, 1942 to the late Joseph and Rose (Gaffney) Sullivan. Ronald attended St. Joseph”s Grammar School in Bronxville and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Yonkers. He went on to join the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters in 1961, and worked as a plumber with Local 1 in New York City until his retirement. Ronald is survived by his brother Joseph (Mary Ellen) Sullivan, his niece Karen (Kevin) O”Hara, his nephew Danny (Mary) Sullivan and his great-nieces and -nephews Grace, Declan, Patrick and Kiera. During the prime of his life, Ronald was an avid skier who enjoyed his home on Hunter Mountain, and summers on the beach in Belmar, NJ. He will be greatly missed by those who loved his sense of humor and big heart. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 9:45 am at the Church of St. Joseph in Bronxville, NY, followed by interment at Holy Mount Cemetery in Eastchester, NY. He was a beloved spouse, father, grandfather and great grandfather, a man who blessed his family with the gift of his life. Born to Mary and Philip LaSalle, Paul joins his beloved wife Rosemary in heaven. He leaves behind his children; Mary (Chris) Cahill, Robin (Steven) Angelilli, Kathleen (Steven) Brown, Elizabeth LaSalle, (Paul LaSalleJr. deceased 1989), Teresa Gallo, Philip LaSalle and Rosemary (Tom) Roche. His grandchildren; Catherine (Peter) Gaynor, Michael (Marie) and Kevin Cahill, Steven (Erin) and Thomas Angelilli, Isabella Rhodes, Michelle and Nicholas Gallo, Emma, Matthew, Thomas, JohnPal, MaryGrace, Joseph and Sophia Roche. And great grandchildren; Conor Gaynor, James and Daniel Angelilli and Arabella Cahill. He was a graduate of Iona College, New Rochelle and received his MBA from City College, NY. God, family and country were the utmost priority throughout his life. He demostrated this belief through his service to his country as a medic in WWII, through his love and devotion to his family and by actively serving his Church.
